ENGLEWOOD, Colo. – December 9, 2013 – Western Union Business Solutions, a division of the Western Union Company (NYSE:WU), a leader in global payment services, and Kimbia, Inc., a leading Omni-Channel Fundraising™ platform, today announced a partnership to provide customers a powerful service to help them meet their fundraising and distribution goals internationally.
The partnership with Austin, Texas-based Kimbia, will deliver a unique cash management solution to the NGO marketplace that will facilitate the dual management of multi-country, multi-language and multi-currency in-bound donations alongside global, multi-currency out-bound payments.
NGO clients that enroll with Western Union Business Solutions and Kimbia will now be able to accept payments in local language and currency from over 100 countries, allowing donors to contribute funds with increased ease and visibility. This ability will make it easier for donors to participate in fundraising campaigns and will enable NGOs to manage their inbound cash flow more efficiently.
“We have been working with numerous NGO clients as we develop a new product, NGO Global Pay, as part of our work with the Clinton Global Initiative,” said Brian Harris, chief product officer, Western Union Business Solutions. “While they have been delighted with the ability to send cash and account-based payments directly to staff and recipients all around the world using Western Union’s global network, we frequently heard about their challenges managing inbound multi-currency donations. Now, thanks to the partnership with Kimbia, they will be able to launch international fundraising initiatives from a single platform regardless of location, currency, or language.”
NGO clients that use Western Union NGO Global Pay are currently able to send cash payments to 189 countries, including delivery to mobile wallets in 11 countries, helping them to overcome ‘last-mile’ challenges of fund disbursement in remote locations and improve the transparency of their reporting. The partnership with Kimbia will now provide a valuable inbound solution. Clients that use the combined Western Union and Kimbia platforms will not only be able to collect global donations, but also integrate the Kimbia system into their current email and donor management platforms, decreasing the time needed to track funds and communicate with donors. This functionality increases efficiency and eases workload, making it a key differentiator of the Kimbia technology when compared to other payment solutions.
“Western Union provides the ideal partner to launch our international payment technology,” said Daniel Gillett, Chief Executive Officer of Kimbia. “We are excited about the global reach of this partnership and have already received positive feedback from the marketplace. The combined inbound and outbound payments capabilities are unique and provide NGOs with much needed support managing their overall fund donation and distribution portfolios.”
